Lima, June 16, 2022.- The Arequipa Steel Corporation (CAASA) received, for the fifth consecutive year, the Socially Responsible Company Distinction (DESR) granted by the Sustainable Peru organization in alliance with the Mexican Philanthropy Center (CEMEFI).

The DESR is a management tool that evaluates environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects in business through specific indicators aligned with sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).

"At Aceros Arequipa we receive this recognition with great pride, which encourages us to continue improving our management in terms of sustainability and social responsibility, and in this way contribute to the development of our country," said Tulio Silgado, general manager of CAASA.

In the 2021 evaluation, CAASA achieved 89.28/100 points. Likewise, it obtained “Consolidated Performance” (scores between 80 and 100) in 15 of the 17 topics that are evaluated in the DESR. The most outstanding topics of his management were good corporate governance, labor practices and decent work, customer management, responsible consumption, environmental management and eco-efficiency.

Additionally, since 2020, Aceros Arequipa is part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index – MILA (DJSI), an index that groups companies that are listed on the stock market and have excellent environmental, social and governance management. This makes the company the only Peruvian steel mill that is part of the S&P Sustainability Yearbook 2022, due to its high performance in the industry.
