Within the framework of the I Business Meeting "Business Leaders in Sustainability and Environmental Empathy" organized by the Ministry of the Environment, Corporación Aceros Arequipa (CAASA) obtains the "Clean Peru" recognition.

The Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), through the Clean Production Agreement (APL), encourages the holders of productive, extractive and service activities to voluntarily improve the productive and environmental conditions of their processes, generating synergy and economies of scale, in order to move towards a circular economy.

Aligned with this objective, Corporación Aceros Arequipa (CAASA) in 2020 was the first steel company to sign the APL with the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Production, committing to 4 specific goals:

• Recovery of metal waste in the production of liquid steel.

• Use of industrial by-products at CAASA.

• Implement actions to increase the recovery of solid waste.

• Support in the source segregation and solid waste collection program for a local government.

Fulfilling these goals with actions that make visible the environmental empathy of Corporación Aceros Arequipa (CAASA); The Minister of the Environment, Albina Ruiz, presented the "Clean Peru" award to Tulio Silgado, General Manager of CAASA.

This recognition reaffirms the compliance and participation of Corporación Aceros Arequipa in the sustainability of the country: "Our sustainability strategy seeks to place us at the forefront of good international practices and the current needs of society and the planet by contributing to the Objectives of Sustainable Development in our three pillars: environmental commitment, solid structure and shared value” commented Fernando Bustamante, Manager of Strategic Management Control at CAASA.

In this way, Corporación Aceros Arequipa continues to bet on its circular economy approach, contributing to the competitiveness and productivity of Peru.
